"Both planes have been out of service for a while but we are confident that we can make them fly again" said Mr Moss. This is in response to confirmation from London Stansted Airport that they cannot handle Boeing 747s! (they could have mentioned this before!) From here you will be able to book flights from November 2008 when Air Downunder takes off from Melbourne for the first flight to Kuala Lumpur.
Kuala Lumpur named as Southeast Asia stopover Kuala Lumpur (KUL), the capital city of Malaysia has been confirmed as the chosen stopover for Air Downunder. Negotiations have now finished and KUL will now host Air Downunder flights between Europe and Australasia. Air Downunder Chairman William Smith is confident that Malaysia will be hit as a stopover for passengers; "Malaysia is an attractive destination in it's own right and Air Downunder are very pleased to be stopping at the world class airport facility, Kuala Lumpur International Airport". Asian stopover destination confirmed soon Air Downunder is currently negotiating a landing slot at a Southeast Asia destination. Kuala Lumpur (KUL) is currenlty the first choice stopover for Air Downunder and we are confident about securing the landing rights for the UK flights. The second choice is Bangkok (BKK).
Air Downunder set for take off in 2008! Air Downunder is set for take off from Melbourne to London Stansted towards the third quarter of 2008. Flights from Auckland should take off towards the end of 2008. Online booking will be available in June 2008 when a new website will be released. Air Downunder are currently in talks with a major Asian airline to acquire two Boeing 747 jets for their two opening routes.
Air Downunder names top management, aims to offer lowest fares from UK to Australia Paul Moss, a veteran of the pharmaceuticals industry, was named as Air Downunder's chief executive. William Smith, the managing director and co-founder of Air Downunder will be the airline's chairman. Air Downunder says it wants to be the carrier that offers the lowest fares in the long haul market, and it will fall on the shoulders of Mr Moss and Mr Smith to make it succeed. |
